The Inefficient Society: The bottleneck in U.S. higher education

Joseph Heath’s post back in June, which compared Canadian and US higher education, has now attracted a great deal of attention on both sides of the border. I would quibble with some of Joseph Heath’s claims (only some UoT undergrads have access the first-rate education available at the St George Campus and McGill is massively underfunded relative to universities in the wealthier Canadian provinces). The points made by Heath and Cowen are, however, largely correct.
